More Percy Jackson
Oct 21st
I have to admit – when I first picked up the series, it was at the suggestion of my boss at work! I’m still quite amazed that I managed to actually grow to like something she suggested to me :P Though I suppose it’s all OK, since she’s a big fan of Harry Potter too… and Narnia! Can’t forget good ole Narnia :)
Well, I was browsing around (actually google searching for Percy Jackson but yeah…) and I came across posters for the Percy Jackson movie coming out next February… the 12th, to be exact. I should start looking into buying next year’s planner, I have a lot of stuff I want to make sure I catch. The midnight showing of this is a definite!!
The main character of the books, obviously :P
Annabeth
Percy’s rival/sidekick/love interest… whatever you want to call her

Grover
Percy’s BFF. And a half-goat thing.

Well, you already know what I think of Percy’s actor – the more I see of Logan, the more impressed I become. He fits the role pretty well, and he seems to come into the character well. Annabeth… well, I haven’t seen much of her in action. The actress, Alexandra Daddario, is another nobody for the most part, she’s done some TV stuff (All My Children?! I used to watch that all the time..! As a kid, of course. You know, mother’s soap operas?) but nothing that I’ve ever really seen. She kinda reminds me of Lindsay Shaw, the few shots of her I’ve seen.
Now Grover. Wowwww. I was not expecting him to be black. He’s played by Brandon Jackson, who is… 24. Hoshit. That’s a little unexpected. But it’s actually matching to Grover’s age in the books – he’s like double what age he plays. Or something like that. I always envisioned Grover as being… well, Mr. Tumnus.

Like in this picture which came out with one of the books… Demigod Files maybe?
But I’ll wait to pass judgement on more trailers, or the movie itself! Too long to wait. Heh.
Why Wikipedia doesn’t work
Oct 21st
Reference this, reference that.
That is why Wikipedia does not work – if you don’t have some sort of online reference, you’re screwed. I actually got to meet Angie Sage – brilliant, I can tell you, as per the last post – but when I try to get Wikipedia fixed to show that really, it’s not animated…
Bingo, it’s been undone. And why? Need a goddamn fucking reference. [/swearing]
The problem lies in how the media works. When one person says something and is interpreted wrong, it just snowballs. Someone made some off-hand comment of how they’re working on the animation and all of the sudden, the movie is labelled as animation everywhere. And unless Angie were to post something on her website (which, for some reason, I doubt she’s allowed to) it’ll end up staying that way.
When I made my edit to Wikipedia, I changed the section
It was announced on July 17, 2009 that the movie will be animated, with David Frankel as director and Rob Lieber to adapt ”Magyk”.
to
It was announced July 17, 2009 that [[David Frankel]] will direct and Rob Lieber will be adapting ”Magyk”.
Which leaves it vague – I don’t say that it’s live action, because I don’t have a source. But at the same time, I take out the part about it being animated, because really, it isn’t!!! But Legolas2186 (nice original name, btw) changed it right back. I’d like to note here that he seems to claim ownership over the article.
Which, I might add, is another thing that ticks me off. Half the edits on Wikipedia seem to get rolled back to the head hancho’s last edit. But that’s for another time.
Simply put, references annoy me. Because really, it’s impossible to get them for everything.
