Archive for March, 2010

So I wasn’t really thinking

I actually only got 30 hours… so my paycheck yesterday was only $204. According to my previous plans, that would have left me with a whopping $4 to pay for a week’s worth of food & gas.

Well, that obviously won’t work, will it?

march 26th:
… capitalone: $75
… walmart: $25
… put $50 aside for tuition
april 2nd:
… chase: $50
… discover: $50
… pay tuition – $50 from this paycheck
… pay insurance, getting the extra needed funds via a Direct Deposit Advance.
april 9th:
… pay kohl’s (this isn’t actually needed… see below) $50?
… pay server

Both my paychecks for the 2nd and the 9th will be almost exactly 40 hours. =o= I work the ENTIRE week that I get paid for on the 9th, and 6 of the 7 days for my 2nd paycheck.

As for my Kohl’s, I don’t actually need to post another payment… though I should. I found some clearance basics in my size, and so I got those. Spent $19 on my Kohl’s (before my 15% discount, remember) and then I posted a $30 payment. So a gain of about $10 in credit there, though I would like to post another payment on the 9th if I have the money. But I do need to start saving for next month’s payments, as I’d like to make them bigger. Chop off about $400 from my debt again. ($100 capitalone, $100 chase, $25 walmart, $75 discover, $100 kohl’s) That would actually open up enough credit for me to transfer the remaining balance of the Discover over to either CapitalOne or Chase. This is in late April.

And I was thinking, maybe I’ll leave Discover open another month, before I’d get the annual fee. Which I believe would be June. (It got applied June 24th, 2009) So close it late May, and I save that $59. =o=

Oh, btw, the four I pay online all have their payments scheduled :-)

Spongebob is a sin?

So I was browsing around (don’t ask me why, please) and I came across an interesting tidbit: apparently the seven main characters of Spongebob are based off of the Seven Deadly Sins.

Yeah. It blew my mind too. The quote is included in the extras on the season 1 boxset. You can find a review of the boxset here which confirms that it is said. :O

Now, the question then becomes… who is who? Well, I found a list here

1. Sloth-Patrick
Sloth is the sin of laziness, or unwillingess to act. Obviously this is Patrick. He lays under a rock all the time and doesn’t really do anything. In fact in the episode “Big Pink Loser” he got an award for doing nothing the longest.

2. Wrath-Squidward
Wrath involves feelings of hatred and anger. Squidward hates his life, usually hates SpongeBob, and is pretty much angry most of the time.

3. Greed-Mr. Krabs
Obviously Mr. Krabs is greedy and desires money. How could Greed not be Krabs? He actually sang about the power of greed in “Selling Out”.

4. Envy-Plankton
Plankton is envious of Mr. Krabs because The Krusty Krab is a success while The Chum Bucket is a failure. His envy drives him to try to steal the Krabby Patty secret formula.

5. Glutony-Gary
I actually think this one is pretty funny. Did you ever notice the running gag in Spongebob where they say “don’t forget to feed Gary” or Sponge says “I gotta go feed Gary”. Gary even ran away that time when SpongeBob forgot to feed him. Glutony usually refers to the overindulgence of food so I’m guessing this one fits him pretty well.

6. Pride-Sandy
Sandy takes a lot of pride in who she is and where she comes from. She takes pride in the fact that she is from Texas and likes to let everyone know it. She also takes pride in the fact that she is a mammal and a land creature, like in the episode “Pressure” where she tried to prove land critters were better than sea critters.

7. Lust-SpongeBob
Ok, I know what your thinking. It does seem a little weird and curious at first but I have given it a lot of thought. Lust in one definition is “excessive love of others”. I think this one works best for Spongebob. He shows his love of others with his overeagerness to do good and help people. If anything is true about SpongeBob its that he loves everyone around him, even if they don’t exactly love him back.

And while trying to find a source, I came across another person who added that they thought Mrs. Puff falls under one of the older sins (see Wikipedia) of “despair”… which is pretty obvious in itself.

I found it interesting – how about you guys?

End of March/Early April Plans

capitalone
… due april 1st, $23 min
… current balance: $669.00
chase
… due april 10th, $20 min
… current balance: $665.00
walmart
… due april 5th, $15 min
… current balance: $328.32
discover
… due april 12, $15 min
… current balance: $215.51
kohl’s
… due april 15, $10 min
… current balance: $339.12

other fees needed:
april 1st: $100 for insurance
nowish: $125 for speeding ticket (yeah, $75 less than I thought :-D)
soonish: $100 down payment for fall tuition
april 14th: server

soooo…
now: I have about $200
… put the $125 aside for speeding ticket
march 26th: big paycheck :D nearly 40 hours.
… capitalone: $75
… walmart: $25
… pay $100 for tuition
april 2nd: no clue how big the paycheck will be, but since it’s second half of scratch off, probably bigish
… chase: $50
… insurance: $100
… discover: depending on paycheck, either $25 or $50
april 9th: not a clue
… pay kohl’s :)
… rest will go to server

SO… balances after payments, before interest
capitalone: $669.00 – $75 = $594
chase: $665.00 – $50 = $615
walmart: $328.32 – $25 = $303.32
discover: $215.51 – $25 = $190.51
…or $215.51 – $50 = $165.51
kohls: $339.12 – who knows :P Probably $50 so = $289.12

Current balance: $2216.95
After Payments, with lower Discover payment: $1991.95
After Payments, with larger Discover payment: $1966.95

Now, when I started this silly blogging thing…
current balance: $2431.73
Assuming I do the bigger payment,
current balance: $1966.95
That’s $464.78 less in debt I am.

And remember, I have a total credit line of $3150.00, so after payments, it’ll be 62.44% filled. Which isn’t all that bad. :)

note: depending on my hours, and how much I can scrounge up, I may be putting more towards these payments than scheduled. ;) Because as far as I can tell, I will having something like $150-$200 left over, if hours pan out right. Which could mean a $25 bump to each of the payments. That is GOOD, right? :-D

ugh, interest

I never really realized how much goes out to interest. $13 in interest on CapitalOne this month… wow, that’s two hours of working. =O= …and $13 on chase too x_X

capitalone
… due april 1st, $23 min
… current balance: $669.00
chase
… due april 10th, $20 min
… current balance: $665.00
walmart
… due april 5th, $15 min
… current balance: $328.32

And Discover and Kohl’s haven’t had dates set for next month. Wooo. Balance on Discover is $222.00 and Kohl’s is $316.57.

Speednig ticket is due April 12th. So I gotta make sure I have $200 for that :-D

Bleh

Insurance is a pain in the butt. I spend $100 on it each month, and have yet to reap any benefits. =o=

I get paid $182 on Friday… so I keep $100 for server payment, and then I put… $50 towards my Kohl’s? That’ll leave me with about $30 to live on. Oh joy. :-D

I’m gonna be near 40 hours this week, so my next paycheck should be over $250… I’ll dump another $100 towards CapitalOne, and probably keep another $100 locked away so that I have money for the lovely ticket that I got awhile back. :(

This stupid blogging is helping. Each time I’m tempted to buy something I think “Oh gawd, if people see my balances go UP, they’ll know I’m buying stuff.”

So yeah, haven’t been buying stuff.

…except for the $6 that I spent to legally obtain the new Train and Selena Gomez CDs. Amazon had them for $2.99… I wasn’t about to pass that up!!!!! But other than that, I haven’t put a single thing on any of my charges :-D

And I haven’t been eating out either… been buying stuff from Cub before I go into work… $2 versus $6 == good savings. That’s like $20 saved each week. While really does add up.

Okay, let’s assume I make an average of $150 per week. (I normally make more, but we’ll go with this)

That’s $600 a month.
- $100 for insurance
= $500 a month.

For April and May. Then I move. Oh dear. :< So I have a guesstimate of $1250 net coming in before I move.
- $200 for stupid speeding ticket
= $1000 that I’ll have to put towards the debt of doom. So I’ll be able to pay off Discover no problem… only got a little over $200 left on there… and then I can move on to pay off Chase. Or should I do Kohl’s? I’m not sure…

Maybe what I should do is pay $10 every day I work! That would be smart. :-P I dunno.

T___T Money sucks. I would be much richer if I didn’t rack up these stupid credit cards. Discover is to be gone by the end of April. I think I’ll actually keep the Chase & CapitalOne cards though.

Chase = because I get 3 points for every dollar spent at Amazon. Seriously, this is a Good Deal… if I pay it off.
CapitalOne = my oldest card, and gonna keep it for my credit history.

Doing well!

I’m doing well on my Road to Recovery. So well in fact that I decided to up the amount I’m paying towards Discover this month :-) Instead of $25, I’m now posting $50.

So…
Discover
… credit line: $300
… current balance: $261.60
… scheduled payment: $50.00 on March 5th
… resulting balance: $211.60

Yay! And I did that return on my Kohl’s and have fought MANY urges to buy stuff. So current balance is $361.57. I picked up a couple shifts in the coming weeks, so I should (I think) be able to post about $100 towards it on the 12th. It’d be sweet if I could pay it off. Maybe when I get around to doing taxes.
