Hello!

Hello! My name is Greg Martin, and if you’re at this page, you likely already know me. ;)

A Brief Biography

I’m currently a 24 year old guy living in the middle of Wisconsin, in a semi-small town called Eau Claire. I recently graduated from the University of Wisconin – Eau Claire with a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in English (Creative Writing emphasis) and Spanish, with a minor in Language Studies (Linguistics).

I currently have two jobs. My full time position is as a Co-Manager in the Books A Million located in Eau Claire, and my part-time job is just across the highway at Kohl’s. I’m a supervisor in both, though my position in Kohl’s is of much lesser standing. I spend a majority of my time floating between the two of them… I absolutely love both of them (for the most part!) and I’m one of those people that actually likes to go to work.

This is the first time in a LONG time (actually, first time ever) that I’ve been just working without school. It’s a new experience for me, and I’m actually kind of missing the anticipation of returning to the classroom. Someday, though, I’d like to go back and get a masters degree in some sort of linguistics field, or maybe getting my MFA in creative writing.

My interests are extremely varied. I am an avid gamer of certain types of games (I am a huge fan of the Professor Layton series, as well as the Mario platforms and Harvest Moon RPGs) but my main passion lies in books. I have no qualms calling myself a bibliophile, and have more than my fair share of books. I especially enjoy YA, and one day hope to work in the YA publishing industry. This is an absolute perfect match for my main job, of course. I get to work with books 40 hours a week. Pretty much a life dream come true.

My music interests are rather generic; I’ll listen to most everything (except rap, which I can’t get into) but prefer the Top 40. Some of my favorite current artists are One Direction, Greyson Chance, For the Foxes, The Wanted, and Before You Exit. My all time favorite song has, and likely will always be, Savage Garden’s “Crash and Burn”. I love going to concerts, and have in the past few years see One Direction, Greyson Chance three times, The Wanted, Tom Petty, Before You Exit twice, and a variety of other artists.

I like to travel when I can. I spent January – May 2012 in Europe, where I was studying in Valladolid, Spain. I was able to travel across the continent during my time there, and fell in love with Ireland. Maybe I’ll move there sometime. :)

I also enjoy trying to keep up with technology. I have an HP TouchPad which I’ve flashed with Android ICS. My iPod is a 4th generation touch, and my laptop is a Song VAIO. I have a Kindle and a black Wii, which looks absolutely awesome next to my red 3DS. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

I really have nothing else to say. But I’m always interesting in meeting new people, so feel free to send me a message. :)

I still get stuff at my parents’ house, so that’s listed. But the Eau Claire info is much more likely to get a hold of me…

I love… stuff!

I love getting just about anything. I treasure the few ARCs I get, and if any publisher is interested in sending one to me, I’d absolutely love to have it. I will also guarantee that I will review it.

…doubly as fast if it’s a fun YA book!

(I also love boxes. People have a thing for ordering me free boxes… I have a lifetime supply of boxes… in retrospect, please don’t send me any more boxes…)
