Well, if that isn’t the question.

In her new single, Selena addresses the matter. You can hear the song (one of her better ones, I have to say) here.

I should take a moment and say yeah, I don’t listen to the best music. I don’t listen to the stuff that’ll last through ages. I mean, come on, my playlist features mainly Bieber, Devon Werkheiser, Gaga, and the new Britney Spears song. I’ve had a couple of Selena’s songs on there too. But you know what? I can’t say I really care.

Music is something that appeals to different people in different way. Some like voices – I’ll listen to anything by Alex Band because his voice amazes me. Some like styles – who can deny the beat that reverberates through Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance? Some like personality – I think Greyson Chance has an amazing personality, and that makes him worth following. Yeah, he’s jumping on the Bieber bandwagon (little boys ftw) but he has a GOOD voice, and if you watch him in videos, he’s a bubbly, GOOD kid. He’s doing it because he wants to.

I feel the same way about Disney singers. Sure, Mitchel Musso doesn’t have an amazing voice. In fact, it’s rather cringe worthy – but he’s going out there, even with that HUGE stigma against Disney singers, and putting out a couple albums. They deserve to be listened to.

And sometimes, the lyrics far outweigh any bad voices. I’m not a big fan of the music style of Born this Way, but the lyrics are amazing. Same with a number of Musso’s songs – the voice is “Eh” but the lyrics. :D I can relate to them. Like The In Crowd. I’ve always been a bit of a loner, and that’s why I enjoy the song.

Because I can relate.

So yeah, just basically a rant here about how a person’s music choices really doesn’t say much about them, but at the same time, it says a LOT. My two sisters listen to some weird ass shit, but that’s because they’re weird ass kids. They listen to what appeals to THEM, what THEY like – not what other people like. And so it just PISSES ME OFF when people talk bad about others because they listen to Disney singers, or to Bieber. It’s like hair style. Yeah, it might be butt-ass ugly to you, but to me… hey, I like it. So bug off.

So I’m not really digging the new album’s songs. First was Round and Round which was pretty bleh. And now it’s A Year Without Rain. And dig this – it’s the title song.

I mean, Selena, you have a good voice and all (I LOVE Naturally) but the lyrics just don’t seem to flow as well. Especially in AYWR. It seems too choppy.

What do other people think? (Even though the only one that might reply is Priscilla…)

So, a few minor music notes that have popped up recently.

First off, we have the cover for Selena Gomez’s new CD, which will be entitled “A Year Without Rain”. I think we would love that here in the midwest, as we have had nothing but rain this summer. It’s either been rain or 95F with dew points in the 70s. Eww eww eww.

The first single (I think, at least) from this album was Round and Round. I didn’t really care for it… nothing tops Naturally though. I absolutely and utterly ADORE that video. :)

CD comes out next month, so I’m sure that’ll be something to budget for! :)

In other news, Jesse McCartney has finished his fourth album. (!) I’m not all for his music style, but god, it’s worth buying for the pictures! :P No word on when it’ll be released.

But! But! We did get the music video for Not That Far Away. I sadly missed it when it aired because I don’t get CMT or Nick. (glares) But thank God for the wonder that is YouTube. Check it out!

It’s a really pretty song, and I’m excited for the video. It seems like it’ll be an interesting video, and actually make SENSE with the song.

(I wonder when Nathan will start singing? The other two have…)

So instead of doing something useful, like maybe writing more of my story, I played around with the site. I probably will write more in the next few weeks, as my hours have been drastically cut. In the newest schedule, I only got 12 :’( Which is a HUGE drop from the 40 I worked last week.

Oh well.

Anyways, I added a shoutbox. Not that anyone will ever use it except me :P I also changed the countdown from Percy movie to Justin Bieber’s new CD :-D

I’ve also added a page about hosting here. I don’t do much, but hey, if it brings a few bucks to my pocket, sure, I’ll share the server.

Speaking of the server – Wikimon is back up! And we have a MUCH more powerful processor now, plus 4GB of ram! We are looking pretty damn sweet now :D

And Ryan (Yeah, that Ryan) has his own blog thing going now. You can see it here. We’ll see if he does anything with it… he paid for the domain, not me. xD But I am hosting him. ♥

So when I did that Justin Bieber post, I came across his doing the improv scene from August Rush. Wellllllll… I found more :-D First one is the actual August Rush scene.

When I first saw the movie, I thought it was a bunch of rubbish, that you couldn’t actually *do* that with a guitar. Wow was I surprised when I found out it’s entirely possible.

It’s pretty awesome, if I do say so myself.

I’ve always kinda wanted to learn to play the guitar but never had a chance really…

So in an effort to try and understand my sister’s taste in music a bit more, I’ve been attempting to listen to a local radio station KDWB. They fall more into the hip-hop poppy kinda stuff, rather than the (soft) rock that I normally listen to.

One of the singers on there happens to be some kid named Justin Bieber. The only reason I even looked it up is because I rather liked the lyrics to his song “One Less Lonely Girl” and wanted to check the video. It’s rather cute – ranks up there with Plain White Tee’s 1234 in the “Awww” department.

Anyways, I thought I’d share this new talent, who appears to have gotten his start on YouTube. Whatcha know?

And then here’s his “main” song, One Time. First one is the official music video, second is an acoustic version that I actually rather liked. He does have a decent natural voice, which is better than most artists out there can say :-)

Here’s an old one, from before he got noticed. It’s a cover of “Angel” by Sarah Mclachlan and you can tell he’s still not great XD

OMG, another old one, where he’s singing Respect. His dancing makes me laugh. :3

Here’s a Lifehouse cover. I am a pretty big fan of Lifehouse, and I have to say that his version rather sucks… it’s too fast. But he tries, so that’s okay.

I didn’t look at rest of his videos, he covers a lot of songs that I simply do not know. HOWEVER. HOWEVER. There is one there that is beyond win. Beyond win.

Why? Because it’s from one of my favorite movies :)

YES! August Rush! That is a really epic scene, and I love the soundtrack for the movie. (Both, actually. The instrumental and the one with the vocal songs on it. Did you know there are two?)
